Modern automobiles are arguably one of the most complex collection of embedded systems that we interact with on a daily basis. In the recent years, vehicles have become increasingly connected in many ways and rely on connectivity for feature/functionality. This talk provides a high-level overview of vehicle communications "“ both inside the vehicle and to the outside world. It will also introduce briefly OpenXC, an open source hardware software platform developed at Ford to allow developers access to vehicle CAN data.
Dr. Jayanthi Rao is a Research Engineer at Ford Motor Company in the Research and Advanced Electrical and Electronics Systems Engineering division. Her area of focus is wireless connectivity and she leads research projects in the area of V2X communications and related applications.
