Teaching computer science and engineering students is to prepare them to be self-motivated in solving real-life problems. This is achieved through the process of teaching sound theoretical foundations, providing hands-on experience, and encouraging innovative ideas and designs.

This seminar is organized into three parts. The first section consists of my teaching philosophy and strategies along with some thoughts on my future plans. The second part is a mini course on parallel computing using MPI programming for document classification application. Problem formation, parallel algorithm design, and relevant implementation techniques applicable to the application will also be discussed. Finally, I will end with a brief presentation regarding performance engineering from my dissertation work, as well as ideas for further exploration in this area.
